Sara Joy Proppe

Sara Joy Proppe is the founder and director of Proximity Project, an initiative centered on educating and activating churches to be thoughtful stewards of their properties for the common good within the contexts of their neighborhoods.

Through Proximity Project, she provides placemaking and real estate development consulting services as well as educational resources to churches looking for creative and dynamic ways to connect their mission and their story to their physical place in the neighborhood. She has a masters degree in Urban Planning and several years of professional experience in affordable housing, placemaking, and commercial real estate development, managing new construction and historic rehab projects. She also writes and speaks for various audiences on the intersections of theology and urban design. In her spare time, Sara Joy is a committed member of her community garden and loves to cook and bike around town. She shows her Texas roots with many aptly-placed y’alls in her conversations.
