As a young girl, I wanted to take dance lessons, but my parents said they could not afford it. Refusing to give up and trying not to be discouraged, I dressed up, put some children’s tunes on my little record player, and danced throughout the house by myself. For Valentine’s Day, a business friend wanted to decorate by displaying local artist’s work in her office, so I decided to paint a couple celebrating the night together, dancing. They are in the middle of the city, no nightclub, no music venue, no one is watching, yet they “Celebrate the Night.” I never did become a great dancer, but that memory is a reminder to dance whenever and wherever I can. “I hope you dance!”
