Jennifer Herdt

Jennifer Herdt is Gilbert L. Stark Professor of Christian Ethics at Yale Divinity School and works on virtue, ethical formation, and flourishing. Among her books are Putting on Virtue: The Legacy of the Splendid Vices (2008), Forming Humanity: Redeeming the German Bildung Tradition (2019), and Assuming Responsibility: Ecstatic Eudaimonism and the Call to Live Well (2022). Her next book uncovers dimensions of ethical agency shared by human and nonhuman animals, and explores their significance.
