This pen-and-ink drawing is the second in a series of faces created with terra-cotta. My drawings celebrate the work of architects, artists and craftsmen who have created our built environment. I want people to see the beauty in the details—art work upon art work. I saw this wonderful face when I was photographing a client’s garden for a commission. I loved the way the sunlight and the shadows from the trees hit this large urn and the wall behind it. I had to draw it with it’s wide range of subtle to strong values—perfect for pen and ink.
