Visio divina— “divine seeing”—is the centuries-old practice of prayer through meditation on a work of art. It involves slowing down to pause and ponder, offering God space to speak to our hearts.
We invite you to join us virtually as we reinvigorate this ancient practice with the help of Comment contributor Irena Dragaš Jansen. There, Irena will guide us through three different paintings using formal analysis, historical context, and measured reflection. Together, and slowly, we will put ourselves in the path of art, taking time to observe the images in personal quietness and communal exchange, and asking how they might hint at a better understanding of life.
Thursday, May 18, from 8:00 to 9:15 p.m. EDT
