“Your Slip is Showing” one of several pieces recently exhibited in the 2008 solo show “This Solid Ground” explores our increasingly economically determined culture. This playful piece shows a person is slipping, a visual metaphor for our currant culture. Fully anticipating a fall we don’t know if we should laugh or feel sorry for him especially when we realize that all of us will be rubbing bruises from our collective slip. The term “Your slip is showing” is used by investors when it is becoming obvious that projected profits are not going to be what they were forecast to be. I would suggest that the metaphor is not an exclusive reference to economics.
