Tracy Kuperus

Tracy Kuperus is Professor of Politics at Calvin University, where she has taught since 2002. A comparative political scientist specializing in African politics, religion, and democratization, she holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois and is the author of State, Civil Society and Apartheid in South Africa (Palgrave Macmillan). Her research explores how religious institutions shape citizenship, political engagement, and democratic life—with particular attention to Christian organizations and youth across the African continent. She lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
