Gregory Thompson

Gregory Thompson is a scholar and artist focusing largely on matters of race, religion, memory, and hospitality. Gregory is founder and principal of Convivium Studio, and creative director of both the National Memorial to the Underground Railroad and Star and Lantern, a cocktail bar and restaurant in partnership with chef Chris Scott. In addition to Comment’s regular column The Welcome Table, he is the author of Blood from the Ground: Public Memory and Racial Repair (2027) and co-author of Reparations: A Christian Call to Repentance and Repair (2021). He is married with four children and can be most happily found in the kitchen.
